According to the Peruvian media agraria reported that the 2023/24 season of blueberries in Peru has started, by the end of the first quarter of this year, Peru will export 285,000 tons of blueberries, planted on about 20,000 hectares, in 10 production areas.

After ten years of development, Peru has become the world's largest exporter of blueberries, with annual exports of nearly 300,000 tons. At the same time, the blueberry industry faces the challenge of sustainable development and urgently needs transformation and upgrading.
Alfredo Lira Chirif, general manager of Agricola Cerro Prieto, a leading blueberry exporter in the province of Lalibertad, said: "The exponential growth in the volume of blueberry exports in Peru has created a lot of jobs." However, the continuous expansion of the Peruvian blueberry industry has brought increasing challenges to the sustainable development of the industry, including water shortages, labor shortages and falling prices due to rising demand.
