There are about 23 varieties of avocados in Myanmar. The season lasts from October to February and March, and is mainly grown in Shan, Chin, Mandalay and Sagaing provinces. In recent years, Burmese avocados have struggled to make inroads in the international market. Before the outbreak, 85 percent of Myanmar's avocado exports went to Thailand, with a small amount entering China through border trade.
