
At present, a total of nine Lao agricultural products have signed bilateral protocols to China, namely rice, corn, banana, watermelon, dried cassava, sweet potato, fresh beans, passion fruit and citrus.
According to Lao media reports, on November 5, Ni Yuefeng, director of the General Administration of Customs of the people's Republic of China, and PE pompipa, Minister of agriculture and forestry of Laos, signed the protocol between the General Administration of Customs of the people's Republic of China and the Ministry of agriculture and forestry of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on the quarantine requirements of citrus plants exported to China from Laos. Laos plans to export the first batch of more than 50000 tons of citrus fruits to China early next year. So far, nine Lao agricultural products have signed bilateral protocols to China, namely rice, corn, banana, watermelon, dried cassava, sweet potato, fresh beans, passion fruit and citrus.

It is reported that citrus fruits grown in Laos, including oranges, grapefruits and lemons, will be transported to China in the next few months. It is expected that Laos will initially export more than 50000 tons of citrus fruits to China at the price of US $50 million (about 319 million yuan).
It is understood that about 3600 hectares of land in Laos is used to grow citrus fruits, which are distributed in nine provinces in the country, namely langnanta, bojiao, shayeburi, Luang Prabang, Vientiane Province, polikansai, savannaji, zhanbasai and atape. Vientiane province is also famous for its citrus. 70% of the total output is for export only.
