How to Select the Suitable Avocado Grading Machine

Select the Suitable Avocado Grading Machine

Avocados are delicate—thin skin, creamy flesh, easily bruised. Roller graders have significant drop heights that can cause hidden damage. The right solution is weight-based sorting. Fstsort offers two options: rotary sorter (compact, economical) and linear sorter (high-capacity, multi-lane). Both deliver ±2g accuracy with gentle handling—protecting avocado value from field to pack.

Why Avocados Need Weight Sorting

Avocados are one of the most nutritionally dense fruits on the market—rich in vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. They are also one of the most delicate. Their thin skin and creamy flesh bruise easily, and any rough handling during sorting can cause internal damage that isn't visible until the fruit is cut open.

Roller graders work well for firmer fruits. But for delicate fruits like avocados, the rolling and tumbling action—combined with significant drop heights between roller sections—can cause bruising that reduces market value. Even a few centimeters of drop is enough to damage the fruit.

The solution: electronic weight sorting. Each avocado is weighed individually, then directed to the right grade based on its actual mass. No rolling, no tumbling, no large drops, no guesswork.

Two Configurations, Two Scales of Operation

Fstsort offers two electronic weight sorting solutions for avocados—each designed for a different scale of operation. Both feature ±2g accuracy and gentle handling to protect delicate avocado skin.
Option A: Rotary Weight Sorter – Compact & Economical

The rotary sorter uses a rotating disc to feed fruit to soft weighing cups. Its circular design takes up significantly less floor space than linear systems.

Soft weighing cups and low-drop discharge ensure avocados are protected from infeed to outlet—no bruising, no impact damage. The compact circular design takes up minimal floor space, making it ideal for smaller packing facilities. PLC touch-screen control makes operation simple—one-touch grade setting with minimal training. Versatile—handles avocados, oranges, pears, mangoes, passion fruit, apples, mangosteens, peaches, tomatoes, lemons, and more.

Option B: Linear Weight Sorter – High Capacity, Multi-Lane

The linear sorter uses a straight conveyor belt to feed fruit to weighing cups. It offers higher capacity and more grades, making it ideal for large-scale operations.

1–4 lane modular design allows capacity to scale from 26,000 pcs/h for a single lane up to 100,000 pcs/h for four lanes—expand as your business grows. PLC touch-screen control saves profiles for different fruits—switch between varieties in seconds. Soft-landing discharge with cushioning at every exit prevents bruising. Customizable L-shaped, U-shaped, or linear layouts to fit your existing facility.
