
As a variety of capsicum, color pepper is usually eaten as a vegetable rather than as a seasoning, because it has a mild or not hot flavor. Some farmers new to this field are unfamiliar to add color when planting the peppers. First Industry consulted specialists to give measures as below:

1. Strictly control the temperature of the shed.
Appropriate temperature of coloring period is about 25℃, it’s the best temperature to form the color of pepper eggplant red. If the temperature is too high, especially higher than 35℃, it will influence the effect of final color.
2. Improve light conditions to avoid insufficient light.
Sufficient illumination is one of the important measures to add color. During the coloring period, farmers must pay attention to wipe the shed film, increase the shed film transmittance.
The old leaves and yellow leaves of the lower part of the plant should be thinned in time to ensure that the light and wind between the plants are good.
3. Widening the temperature difference between day and night to increase the accumulation of photosynthates.
Avoid making the temperature higher than 30℃ or lower than 12℃.
Control nitrogen fertilizer, supplement potassium, boron fertilizer.
By top dressing, supplement potash and boron fertilizer, do not use excessive nitrogen fertilizer. Potash is usually used about 1.5 times as much as nitrogen.
4. Spray hormones.
When the special weather comes, farmers can spray with erythrocyin to promote the fruit to turn color as soon as possible. The spray should not exceed 3000 times of 40% ethephon, and the concentration of the fruit should not exceed 300 times. Besides, the concentration should be low to avoid aging.
