How lychee are harvest and processed in China

This year, “GUIHUAXIANG”Lychee went on the market at the end of March. These lychees are mainly planted in Hainan province China, which is also the main producing area of lychee in China. The harvest season has not yet begun in other production areas across China and the market supply is less than 10%. In this way, lychee can be sold at a high price at the end of March.

Fstsort, a leading manufacturer of post‑harvest fruit grading solutions, today announced the successful deployment of its Lychee Grading and Packing Line in multiple lychee‑producing regions worldwide. The integrated system combines an elevator, a roller inspection table, and a high‑capacity size grader, offering processors a complete solution from raw fruit intake to packed product.

Lychee is harvested in the early morning or evening to avoid high temperatures, and on sunny days to prevent rain damage.

Workers use scissors to cut the fruit stalk, leaving about 0.5–1 cm of the stem to protect the peel.

Within 1–2 hours after harvest, the lychee is pre‑cooled by soaking in ice water (0–5℃) for 10–15 minutes, or stored temporarily in a cold room (4–5℃) for no more than 12 hours.

After cooling, the fruit can be packed directly for cold‑chain transport. For standardized products, lychee can be sorted by diameter before cooling and packing.

As global demand for premium lychee continues to grow, processors face increasing pressure to deliver consistent sizing, reduce labor costs, and maintain fruit quality. Fstsort’s lychee grading line addresses these challenges with robust stainless steel construction, adjustable roller gaps, and a 5‑outlet design that sorts fruit by diameter with minimal bruising.

Key Features & Benefits:

Feature

Benefit

5 Precision Outlets

Separates lychee into five uniform size grades in a single pass, meeting export and retail specifications.

Adjustable Roller Gaps

Change grading range without replacing parts; quick changeover for different crop sizes or customer requirements.

Sorts by Diameter (Carapace)

Most accurate method for lychee, ensuring consistent packouts.

Gentle Handling (Roller‑based)

Reduces mechanical damage; fresh fruit bruise rate ≤5%.

Food‑Grade Stainless Steel (304)

Rust‑proof, easy to clean, compliant with food safety standards.

Single Operator

Replaces labor‑intensive manual sorting, saving up to 80% of manual labor.

Multi‑Crop Versatility

Also grades longan, rambutan, olive, plum, and other spherical fruits.

How It Works:

1.Elevator – Gently lifts lychee from the feeding hopper to the inspection table.

2.Roller Inspection Table – Operators (or optional automated vision) remove defective fruit, leaves, and debris.

3.Roller Size Grader – Lychee travel over rollers with progressively increasing gaps. Smaller fruit fall first, larger fruit continue to subsequent outlets, resulting in five precisely graded size fractions.

4.Packing Station – Each outlet can be connected to packing tables or bins for direct packing into 2.5kg, 5kg, 10kg, or customized cartons.

Proven Success Across Global Markets:

Fstsort’s lychee grading technology has been widely adopted in major lychee‑producing countries:

1.China – Operating in Hainan and Guangxi provinces; one Guangxi facility realized a fully automated post‑harvest line including unloading, stem cutting, sorting, washing, pre‑cooling, disinfection, grading, weighing, and packing.

2.Vietnam – Roller grading lines exported to Vietnamese packers seeking higher efficiency.

3.Thailand – A leading Thai fruit producer chose Fstsort for its cost‑effective and reliable lychee grader.

4.Australia – Customized combination of roller inspection table + manual workstations + adjustable grader supplied to an Australian client.
These real‑world installations demonstrate Fstsort’s ability to deliver robust, adaptable solutions for both large‑scale packing houses and small farm operations.

Why Upgrade to Automated Grading?

  • · Increase throughput – Process tons of fruit per hour with consistent accuracy.

  • · Reduce labor costs – One machine replaces multiple hand sorters.

  • · Improve pack uniformity – Meet supermarket and export grade standards every time.

  • · Minimize fruit damage – Gentle roller design preserves shelf life and appearance.

  • · Enhance food safety – Easy‑clean stainless steel reduces contamination risks.
