After 15 years of negotiation, Argentina lemon finally won the China access agreement.After the Argentine grape obtained the market access of China, the door of China opened to Argentina again.
This week, the head of China's General Administration of customs and Luis basterra, Argentina's agriculture minister, signed an inspection and quarantine agreement in Buenos Aires on Argentina's lemon export to China, paving the way for exports that have been negotiated for 15 years.
Basterra said, "I am honored to sign this Protocol with China to export Argentina's iconic lemon product."
Argentina is the world's fourth-largest producer of fresh lemons and a major producer of lemon products. A total of 250,000 tons of lemons were exported last year, most of them from Tucuman.
Up to now, Argentina can export orange, grapefruit and lemon to China.
