As Peru's production of avocados has increased, many export markets have become saturated and prices have fallen.

According to the Peruvian agricultural media Agraria, in 2020, Peru exported a total of 410,500 tons of avocados, an increase of 32% from the previous year's 310,900 tons; the export value was 772 million U.S. dollars (approximately RMB 5 billion), up from 746 million U.S. dollars in the previous year. (Approximately 4.83 billion yuan) an increase of 3.5%.
Compared with the substantial growth of export volume, the smaller growth of export volume is due to the lower price of avocado in the international market, with the average price falling from US $2.40 (about 15.54 yuan) per kilogram in 2019 to US $1.88 (about 12.17 yuan) per kilogram in 2020. One of the main reasons is the increase in Peru's production, which has saturated many export markets.
The main market for the Peruvian avocados is Netherlands (30% of the total export). Followed by the United States (22%)and Spain(17%). Peru's exports to China this quarter were US $25.7323 million (about 167 million yuan, accounting for 3% of the total).
