By automating secondary grade collection and weighing, the customer significantly reduced manual handling costs and improved consistency of their Second Grade retail product. Despite the complexity of the custom design, the line was engineered for easy assembly. Under remote technical guidance, the customer completed installation and commissioning shortly after the equipment arrived in a 40ft container.
The Challenge: Moving Beyond Size Grading
The customer, one of Australia’s largest jujube growers, needed a sophisticated solution to move beyond simple size grading. Their primary challenge was managing three distinct fruit classes simultaneously to maximize market value:
First Grade – Premium fruit requiring precise size grading into four sub-categories.
Second Grade – High-quality fruit (approx. 15% of yield) still holding significant retail value.
Juice Class – Lower-grade fruit destined for processing.
Standard inspection tables typically allow only one rejection category. The grower needed a customized interface where workers could manually divert “Seconds” and “Juice” grades into separate, automated streams without slowing down the primary grading line.
The Solution: A Highly Customized 15-Meter Processing Line
Our engineering team developed a bespoke jujube grading and packing line featuring several custom modifications to the standard 4-meter inspection station.
1. Tri-Channel Manual Inspection Table
A specialized inspection table with three separate exit hoppers on each side:
Second Grade Stream – Fruits placed into end-hoppers drop onto a dedicated collection belt, leading to an automated weighing and boxing station.
Juice Grade Stream – Fruits placed into center hoppers drop directly into collection tubs below.
2. Integrated Precision Weighing & Packing
The system handles various packaging needs from 3kg to 10kg boxes. Five integrated weighing stations ensure both First and Second-grade fruits are packed with 99% weight accuracy, ready for immediate market distribution.
3. Ergonomic & Space-Saving Design
Customized guardrails and elevated platforms on both sides of the inspection table optimize the facility’s footprint and ensure worker safety, while maintaining a high throughput of 2,000–3,000 kg/hour.
